Legend Amusement was an Western creator of computer games. A company was founded inside 1989 by Bob Bates and Mike Verdu after the prevent of Infocom. Their goal was to project interactive fiction in the Infocom tradition. Their number one products were everthing illustrated text dangerous undertaking, occasionally of the babies designed by Infocom seasoned Steve Meretzky. Starting around 1993, they switched to the recently development models for graphic-just escapade. Many of their adventure games were based on book licenses, including Frederik Pohl's Gateway, Terry Brooks' Shannara, Spider Robinson's ''Callahan's Crosstime Saloon'', Piers Anthony's Xanth, and Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman's The Death Gate Cycle.

A company was acquired by GT Interactive in 1998 and began changing their focus to action games. It developed the first-person shooter based on Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time and finished the development of the 2nd section in the Unreal series in 2002. Late within 2003, they freed the loose expansion for Unreal 2, known as XMP (eXpanded MultiPlayer).

Within 1999, GT Interactive was purchased outright by Infogrames, who late acquired & rebranded themselves when Atari.

In Friday, January 16th, 2004, Legend Entertainment was fold. The brief press release from Atari cites that it was "purely a business decision", & that "Legend had recently completed its only current project and had no new projects in the pipeline". Sources approximately the company state that Legend was in point of fact working in a newly plan, though it has non been officially confirmed. Fan reaction to Atari's decision has been like sour, prompting the creation of a petition demanding that Atari continue to support Legend's games, among other items. These are unknown what farther action, in case any, Atari plans to take in this matter.
